NEIGHBORHOOD EMPOWERMENT

QUALITY OF LIFE CENTERS

    Establish a central place in each district to accommodate some municipal resources, community police and neighborhood advocacy services

  • Smart Code Inspection and Enforcement will provide uniformity among commercial, residential and mixed-use properties in neighborhoods
  • Community Police presence will help reduce nuisance and criminal activities
  • Provisions of some city resources like housing inspectors will bring city government closer to neighborhood residents
  • Collaboration with Police Commissioner, Neighborhood Planning Alliances, Block Clubs, Economic Development Organizations and Citizen Services will build a network between agencies and neighborhood residents

CRIME

POLICE STRATEGIC PLANNING AND DEPLOYMENT

    Collaborate with Police Commissioner to develop a strategic plan that will increase law enforcement visibility in all neighborhoods and business districts

  • Restore police details to public housing units
  • Implement anticrime camera sites in critical and high nuisance crime sites
  • Improve safety, reduce nuisance crimes and drug activity by restoring community police to neighborhoods

ACCOUNTABILITY & ACCESSIBILITY

RETURN RESPONSIBILITY OF CITY GOVERNMENT AND AGENCIES TO CITIZENS

  • Promote an open dialogue between Mayor's office, citizens and community based organizations which provide services to residents
  • Establish office hours for city residents and community organization advocates to speak with the mayor personally about issues
  • Re-open the Mayor's office to the taxpayers and business community
  • Implement transparency of grant applications processes from inception to completion
  • Align assessments, taxes and fees with true economic costs and conditions
  • Establish streamlined licensing and permit processes
